Regarding "Eclipse," "Obscure," "Group," "Color," "Connection," and "Illusion"
When I paint, I employ a unique technique. First, I intently observe the subject. At the right moment, I shift my gaze to a pure white cloth, and the afterimage of the subject emerges, reversing its colors like an old negative film. Before that "fleeting afterimage" disappears, I carefully and quickly begin sketching.
This is how the six new art categories "Eclipse," "Obscure," "Color," "Group," "Chain," and "Illusion" were born.
"Shoku" (Eclipse) is a work in which the originally white night-blooming cereus is dyed black like a lunar eclipse by using color inversion. "Oboro" (Mist) is a state of pale ink that appears before and after the eclipse, accompanied by an afterimage. "Sai" (Color) is a work in which red and green, which are difficult for the eye to perceive, are boldly dyed. "Ren" (Chain) is a series of "Shoku" and "Sai". "Gun" (Group) is a profusion of "Shoku" and "Sai". Furthermore, there is "Mugen" (Illusion), a collaboration with Noh theater from which I have drawn great inspiration. I create works with the theme of the space between the visible and the invisible.
